By royal licence, dated 6 June, 1846, the late Sir Isaac Lvon Goldsmid, Bart., was authorized to accept and use in this country the title of Baron de Goldsmid and Da Palmeira, conferred upon him by the Queen of Portugal, in manifestation of the importantservices rendered by hiui on various occasions to the Portuguese nation, and as a public testimony of Iter royal munificence, and also to bear and use certain additional armorial bearings. The arms being the escochcon of pretence and coronet over. The first crest and the supporters were added to the family arms, and appertain to the title of baron conferred upon him by the Qiu-i-n of Portugal.
