|Info=Alderton and Letheringham Abbey, Suffolk, of great antiquity in that county. &amp;quot;Some avouch,&amp;quot; says Fuller, in his &amp;quot;Worthies,&amp;quot; &amp;quot;that this family came here before, the others that they came in with the Conqueror.&amp;quot; The representative temp., Queen Elizabeth and James I., was Sir Robert Nacnton, Kt., Principal Secretary of State, and afterwards Master of the Wards and Councillor of State; author of &amp;quot;Fragmenla Regalia,&amp;quot; grandson of William Nacnton, and Elizabeth, his wife, dau. of Sir Anthony Wingfield, K.G., of Letheringham. On his monument in old Letherinnham Church appeared a grand escutcheon of all the quarterings of Naunton. His only dau., Penelope, m. Paul, Lord Baynino. Sir Robert's brother, William Naunton, succeeded to Letheringham Abbey, and had a son and heir, Robert Nacnton, Esq., of Letheringham Abbey, who m.Mart, dau. and co-heir of Abthcb Coke, and their only child, Theophila, wife of John Leman, Esq., of Charsfield, was great-grandmother of Theophila Lemon, an heiress, who m. Thomas Rede, Esq. and had issue; the eldest dau., Elizabeth, m. Rev. Richard Tornbb, who d. 1835, and the second, Sarah Leman, m., in 1787, Rev. Samuel Lovick Cooper. Of the former, the great-grandson is Major Alfred Edward Tu&amp;amp;neb, A.P.Ct to H. E. the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. He is entitled, by descent through heiresses, to the numerous quarte rings of the Nauntons&lt;br /&gt;
