Same Arms, Crest and Motto. Some authorities, and amongst others, Halse, the Cornish historian, and the present Sir John Maclean, a very learned writer on Cornish history, consider that the birds in the arms should be described as Cornish choughs and not as doves, the motto being under-stood to apply to the crest, which is undoubtedly "a dove rising ppr."
