Watson-Wentworth, Marquess of Rockingham, extinct 1782. Hon. Thomas Watson, second surviving son of Edward, second Baron Rockingham, by the Lady Anne Wentworth, his wife, eldest dau. of Thomas, first Earl of Strafford, having s. to Wentworth-Woodhouse on the dealh of his uncle, William, second Earl of Strafford, assumed the additional surname of Wentworth ; his son, Thomas Watson-Wentwobth, Esq., of Wentworth-Woodhouse, was created Baron Malf.i 1728, and Earl of Malten 1734, and Marquess of Rockingham 1746; the second marquess d.s.p.
